As a Senior Product & UX/UI Designer, I led the design of a survey tool from concept to MVP, ensuring a user-centered approach. I conducted user research, empathy mapping, persona creation, journey mapping, and information architecture to shape the experience. I designed user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI, refining them through A/B testing and iterative design. Collaborating with global teams, I ensured the tool was intuitive, accessible, and engaging for diverse users.

"Design Thinking" framework

I chose Design Thinking because it focuses on understanding users' needs and creating solutions based on their feedback. This was key for the Survey Tool project, where the needs of survey creators and respondents were different. Design Thinking allowed me to empathize with users, define the problem clearly, and come up with creative solutions.

Design Thinking helped us:

Empathize with users to understand their pain points.
Define the key problems to focus on.
Ideate creative solutions like drag-and-drop creation and customizable templates.
Prototype and Test early designs with real users to refine the tool.

Key challenges

Competitive Analysis

To ensure the survey tool met current and future needs, I conducted a competitive analysis of other tools and an Information Architecture (IA) analysis. I identified three key features essential for success:

Responsive Design: Multiple screen sizes for better usability across devices.
Configurability: Customizable elements to give survey creators more flexibility.
Structured Guidelines: Clear documentation to ensure consistent use and easy adoption.
Improved IA: Streamlined navigation and clear content hierarchy to simplify the survey creation process, making it intuitive for both creators and respondents.

By incorporating these insights, I ensured the survey tool was flexible, scalable, and user-friendly.

Click-Through Analysis

To optimize the survey tool's user experience, I conducted a Click-through Analysis to track how users interacted with key features. This allowed me to understand which elements were getting the most attention and where users faced friction in their journey.

Through the analysis, I discovered:

High-Engagement Areas: Buttons like "Start Survey" and "Submit" were clicked most frequently, indicating that users were focused on completing surveys.
Drop-Off Points: A significant number of users were abandoning surveys at certain question types, revealing areas that needed simplification or clearer instructions.
Navigation Insights: Users tended to click through the navigation menu, but there was confusion around the survey preview option, suggesting the need for clearer labeling.

Based on these insights, I made design adjustments to improve clarity, simplify key flows, and ensure a more intuitive user experience, ultimately leading to higher survey completion rates.

Information Architecture for Survey Tool

With my Design Thinking strategy as my direction, and my research and early explorations as my evidence and guide, I felt confident moving on to some UX design work.

To ensure the survey tool was easy to navigate and user-friendly, I designed Information Architecture (IA) maps that structured the content and defined how users would interact with the system.

The IA maps helped me organize key elements like:

Survey Creation: Categorizing templates, question types, and customization options for easy access.
Survey Response Management: Grouping data analysis tools and reports in a logical way to help creators quickly review results.
Navigation: Designing a clear, consistent navigation system that makes it easy for users to move between creating surveys, viewing responses, and managing their account settings.

These IA maps allowed me to create a clear and intuitive hierarchy of information, ensuring that users could easily find what they needed without confusion. By organizing content in a logical way, I was able to simplify the user experience and ensure that survey creators and respondents could navigate the tool efficiently.

Design Solutions

To ensure a seamless experience for both survey creators and respondents, I developed User Flows that mapped out the entire journey for each user type.

For survey creators, some user flow outlines the steps for:

Starting a new survey – From selecting templates to customizing questions.
Editing and reviewing the survey – Ensuring ease of modification and preview before distribution.
Analyzing responses – Simplifying the process of viewing and interpreting survey data.

Apart from these I have worked on producing many use cases and user flows based on the categories.

For respondents, some user flows focuses on:

Accessing the survey – A simple, user-friendly entry point for survey participation.
Completing the survey – Clear, step-by-step navigation to ensure a smooth flow from one question to the next.
Submitting responses – A straightforward submission process with clear feedback upon completion.

AI Implementation

As part of enhancing the Survey Tool, we integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) to provide a more personalized and efficient experience for both survey creators and respondents.

For the AI implementation, I created Information Architecture (IA) maps to organize how AI features were integrated for both survey creators and respondents.

Survey Creators: IA structured AI-powered features like question suggestions, personalized templates, and automated insights in a way that made them easy to access and use.
Respondents: IA mapped how AI would adapt questions based on responses and provide instant feedback after survey completion.

AI Approach

For survey creators, AI features help streamline the survey creation process:

Suggesting optimal question types based on survey objectives.

Before moving into detailed wireframes, I started with hand-drawn sketches to explore different layout ideas and workflows for the survey tool. These sketches helped in:

After refining ideas through sketches, I created wireframes to establish the structure and layout of the survey tool before adding visual design elements. These wireframes helped in:

Defining the user journey for survey creation, AI-powered suggestions, and response analysis.
Ensuring clear navigation by organizing content logically and maintaining consistency across screens.
Testing usability early by gathering feedback and making necessary adjustments before moving to high-fidelity designs.

Reports & Data Visualization Strategy

In this project, I designed the entire data visualization experience to help users easily understand survey responses and engagement data. My goal was to make every chart, number, and color work together to tell a clear story.

Here's how I approached it:

In designing data visualizations, I focused on visual hierarchy and clarity, using minimal text to let the visuals speak for themselves. For example, in a Pie Chart + Bar Chart combo, I carefully chose colors to make different categories easy to distinguish. The color usage for categorization helped users quickly identify key data points.
I also added micro-interactions, such as small animations or hover effects, so users could drill down for more details without feeling overwhelmed. These interactions were designed to be simple and intuitive, encouraging exploration.
By using reusable design blocks and maintaining a clean layout, I ensured the charts were scalable and could work on any device. Overall, my goal was to make the information clear, easy to navigate, and helpful for quick decision-making.

The AI-driven Survey Tool successfully enhanced the survey experience by making it more intelligent, efficient, and user-friendly. Key outcomes included:
